The 10.09 hectares of mature vineyards, specifically chosen for soil type and climatic factors prevalent, are planted exclusively in carefully selected Gewurztraminer clones on a chosen range of rootstock. The vines are intensely managed and monitored to produce only the highest quality grapes, enabling the production of the outstanding, distinctive Gewurztraminer wines which have become world acclaimed.
Originally established in 2000, the enterprise expanded in 2007 to meet the growing demand for the wines being produced.
The enterprise is fully operational in all respects. There is a full range of appropriate vineyard plant and equipment needed to operate the vineyards to the high levels required. The sophisticated and carefully designed winery is "state of the art" and impressive in all respects. Incorporated in the winery is a self-contained apartment.
A new era for Vinoptima is beginning. The business model has been enhanced and diversified, by the inclusion of other sought after grape varietals, to take advantage of the growing demand worldwide for the outstanding range of wines produced in New Zealand.
Continuity of the operation and consistent production of the unique and distinctive wines is assured. The visionary and founding owner of the enterprise, Nick Nobilo, is looking to retire, but is willing to remain available in a consulting role. Management continuity is also secure, with the availability of the knowledgeable and experienced manager ongoing.
